Presentation 2 Rough Draft:
Essential Question: What is the most effective way a midwife can influence a birth experience?
(A) Introduction
I want to present on the different types of birthing methods, like water birth, and hypnobabies. I will go over what water birth is and what it exactly does, and what hypnobabies is and how effective it is.

I want to let the class know and understand what these methods do for the woman and for her baby. I want them to realize that going to the hospital is not the only option and these experiences are not painful, BUT they're not exactly pain free either (depending on the experience)
(B) Body
1. Major point 1:
First I will state what different options expectant mothers have and what these options can provide for them. The options being water birth and hypnobabies. I will explain what the hospital does, to show how different these methods are. I will also state that water birth is not exactly accepted in hospitals and how water birth used to be in hospitals and is in some (very few) now.

2. Major point 2:
I will explain water birth and how great it is! I really like water birth, it's something that I wish to advocate in hospitals one day:) I feel that it's a very peaceful transition for the baby and a beautiful experience for both partners. Water birth provides women with shorter labors. The warm water also provides therapeutic benefits, I will elaborate on all of this.

3. Major point 3:
I will explain hypnobabies and how it's full of relaxing excerises. It's a full child education class and is before the due date, it reprograms the mind to think positive and to surround your mind, body and soul of only positive people. It's also about relaxing music you can listen to before birth and during, especially during! This class also provides scripts to read during birth, but these scripts and this special music are not listened to until that day. The other scripts and music is to prep for birth in a way, and is listened to.

4. Activity:
I'm still a little iffy on the activity. But I was thinking of pairing up two people, and having them read the hynobabies script, while playing the music that it offers. I can dim the lights and have the class be really quiet and everyone whisper it so everyone is having there on secluded time. OR maybe I can just read it to them??
5. They can get a feel of what it says and how relaxing it is (if its done properly) the students can get hands on experience of what it does, and how it's done.

(C) Conclusion
1. Essential points:
-I’ll state how great these ways are, and how more people need to be informed so they can one day experience this and enjoy their labor.
-Hypnobabies and water birth is something that should not be overlooked and one day be accepted in the hospitals.
-This is connected to my EQ because midwifery offers many options that hospitals don't. Midwives care about the expectant mother, and want her to be comfortable and free enough to do what she wants and these methods offer that. If the midwife allows the expectant mother to experience her birth the way she wants, then she has most definitely influenced her birth experience.

I can't wait : ) The only thing is that the activity will have to get students to demonstrate an understanding for what you have taught, and so far, I'm not sure it does that (although it sounds FUN)! Make sure to review your component contract.
