I was thinking of either writing a poem to show how beautiful it is to deliver with a midwife and the smiles the mothers have through out their experience. Also to show the role of the midwife, the mom and the partner.

Or to make a collage of baby pics delivered by midwives, like some black and white and some pictures of pregnant women.

Fourth Interview Question Approval

These questions are intended for a CNM. I feel asking her will help me a lot more because this is the specific career that I want. I've interviewed a CPM and a SM, but talking to a CNM will give me the chance of actually seeing how it is.

1. What is the best way a midwife can influence a birth experience?
2. Do you feel a competitive environment working in a hospital with OB's?
3. Working in a hospital as a CNM have you noticed different birthing methods, or different techniques?
4. * Do you feel it is more beneficial delivering in a hospital or in a birth center with a midwife?
5.  How different is the atmosphere from the hospital to a birth center?
6. How do you encourage partner involvement while you meet with the mother?
7. During the prenatal visits in the hospital how do you make sure that they are not like OB visits that last a quick 10-15 min visit?
8. Out of having a private practice, and working in a hospital where do you think a CNM is more versatile?
9. If the OB suggests using Pitocin for a "slow labor" what would your response be?
10. Do you agree with hospital's protocol? Is it different from yours?
11. Why do you think C-section in hospital is more popular now?
12. Do you think C-section is overused?
13. If the mother is afraid of delivering through C-section what words of encouragement would you give?
14. When fetal distress is picked up would you immediately pursue c-section?
15. What is your opinion on the drugs that the hospital uses?
16. Why do you think that the U.S has a high infant mortality rate?
17. What’s your opinion U.S's maternal mortality rate? (Most are due from c-section or the drugs used)
18. How would you handle a mother who is having twins?
19. What is the first thing you would do for a breech birth?
20. *After the mother delivers do you give the baby right away to her?
21. *After the delivery how often do you check up with the mother and her baby?
22. *How do you allow the mother to bond with the baby after birth? ( hospital's may want to take the baby right away to the nursery)
